A newer version of Gtalk is released with three new features:
File Transfer - With this top requested new feature, you can send unlimited files and folders to your friendsthrough Google Talk. There
is no restriction on the file type or size and the peer-to-peer transfer is fast and reliable.
Voicemail - Now you can leave a voicemail. You can even leave voicemail messages for your friends who don’t use Google Talk–
they’ll receive an email with the message attached as an audio file. Voicemail messange is limited to 10 mins ans is in MP3 format.
Music Status - Show your contacts what music are you listening (A la MSN). It works with Winamp and Windows Media Player.
Next, I can see Gmail being implemented with embedded audio voicemail accessible directly from the browser.
Download the new version of Google Talk (1.0.0.95)
Update: When you click on the green phone icon at the bottom of Gtalk, it opens up directly search on Gmail with the query 'label:voicemail', this hints at an upcoming voicemail feature on Gmail (as I predicted above). Also when you try to create a label named 'voicemail', you get the message: "System specific names are not allowed. Please try another name."
